Job Title: Completion Engineer
The company's operations are concentrated in the Niger Delta and adjoining shallow offshore areas where it operates in an oil mining lease area of around 31,000 square kilometres.
SPDC has more than 6,000 kilometres of pipelines and flowlines, 87 flowstations, 8 gas plants and more than 1,000 producing wells. The company employs more than 4,500 people directly of whom 95 per cent are Nigerians. Some 66 per cent of the Nigerian staff members are from the Niger Delta. Another 20,000 people are employed indirectly through the network of companies that provide supplies and services
Responsibilities:
o Manage the business process for setting standards,policies,procedures and organisation for completions design,construction,modification and abandonment in Shell.
o In conjunction with Production Technology develop the specifications for standard SPDC completions,through tubing interventions,gas and water shut-offs and sand exclusion methods.
o Hold sessions with Drilling Engineer,Asset Well Engineer and Production Technologist to develop well completion proposals.
o Drive the application of HSE standards to critical completions operations,including but not limited to through tubing (TT) recompletions or repairs,tubing conveyed perforators (TCP),safety enhancement of unsafe wells,and completion operations,abandonment of multi-zone,multi-well-cellar and platform wells
o Carryout Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Pre-job safety meetings for completion jobs. Discuss safety related matters in job planning & execution,journey management etc in weekly Completions contractors meetings.
o Verify all contractor staff qualification & experience in order to maintain high professional standards in job execution,communication of data and field report to base.
o Develop high level strategies for the effective implementation of technical limit concepts regarding well completions
o Supervise the makeup and installation of new Technology equipment into Completions.
o Monitor NPT and ensure proper recording. Investigate NPT and ensure proper close out.
o Ensure minimum formation damage by enforcing adherence to standard procedures.
o Carryout Effective QA/QC & pre-mobilisation of contractors equipment prior to shipment to location.
o Discuss special operations with the Senior Completions Engineer for more clarification.
o Hold pre-job meetings with Contractors to ensure understanding of work scope and equipment requirement.
o Ensure that Contractors’ tickets reflect agreed services that conform with contract terms.
Requirements:
• A professional engineer with a university degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in Completion activities/function, commercial and contracting and technology activities.
• Possess valid IWCF/WIPC certificate.
• Possess highly developed technical skills enhanced by theoretical and practical knowledge of the well completion process.
• Good analytical, communication and writing skills, with PC fluency and familiarity with Completion engineering/Tubular Stress analysis software.
• Excellent proficiency in English language, both in speech and in writing.
