Logistics manager Job Vacancy at Save the Children Congo

Job Title:Logistics manager, Democratic Republic of Congo
Closing Date: Monday, 04 June 2012

Save the Children is a leading organisation working in 120 countries to create a better world for children. We began working in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1994 when the conflict started in the East of the country. The Democratic Republic of Congo is acknowledged to be one of the most difficult countries in which to grow up. Access to essential services is very limited and children are subject to widespread exploitation and abuse, including recruitment into armed groups, forced labour, sexual abuse and abandonment. Save the Children UK operates in the East (North Kivu and Ituri) and West (Kinshasa and Kasai Oriental) of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The eastern programme is mainly rural and conflict-related, the western work is urban and development oriented. The main unifying theme is child protection. In addition, the Democratic Republic of Congo programme makes an important contribution to the Save t he Children's global programme and campaign on education in conflict 'Rewrite the Future' and on Child Survival 'Every One'. For a better delivery of the programme, Save the children is the co-lead (with Unicef) for the Education Cluster at international, national (Democratic Republic of Congo) and at provincial level in Province Orientale; co-lead of Child Protection Working Group in Democratic Republic of Congo (with Unicef) at national level and provincial level (North Kivu); and co-facilitator (with UNHCR) at national level and provincial level (North Kivu) of the Protection Cluster.
