Posted Date: 5/8/2012 Category: International Positions More information about this job: Overview: Counselor needed to work as critical part voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) mobile unit. Reporting to the VMMC Surgeon, the Counselor will ensure VMMC clients are fully counseled on the VMMC procedure and consent prior to undergoing surgery and will reinforce key messages – e.g. returning for post-operative visits and remaining abstinent in the post-procedure period as per national guidelines. The VMMC Counselor will address any post-operative counseling issues that may arise during follow-up visits. They will also play the important role of testing clients for HIV, including ensuring clients receive quality pre and post-test counseling, regardless of the client’s HIV status. Jhpiego is one of the implementing partners of the APHIAplus Western Kenya project. This USAID funded APHIAplus projects became effective from January 2011 and work closely with the Government of Kenya, non-governmental and for-profit sectors to strengthen health care services in all provinces. The APHIAplus Western Kenya project covers Western and Nyanza provinces. Successful candidate will be hired for a one year fixed contract.
